The Euromed University of Fes , a shining academic beacon for Morocco , Africa , and the world

In a context where academic excellence is measured against the most demanding international rankings, the Euromed University of Fes (UEMF) has pulled off a remarkable achievement. In the 2025 edition of the prestigious Round University Ranking (RUR), it has claimed the top national position, surpassing historic institutions such as Mohammed V University in Rabat and Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech. Even more impressively, it ranks as the second university in Africa, just behind the renowned University of Cape Town in South Africa, and proudly enters the highly selective group of the world’s top 360 universities.

This list, based on rigorous criteria established by the Thomson Reuters database, assesses, among other things, the quality of education, the impact of scientific research and international openness. This achievement is all the more remarkable as it places UEMF alongside Anglo-Saxon giants—Harvard, Stanford, Oxford—that traditionally dominate the upper echelons.

Behind this resounding success lies a dynamic and demanding academic ecosystem. The UEMF was built around an innovative pedagogical model, combining scientific rigor and multidisciplinary approach, carried by an elite faculty. Four of its research professors are among the top 2% of the most influential scientists in the world according to the Stanford ranking - a tangible proof of its excellence in research.

Its state-of-the-art infrastructure, designed to foster innovation and creativity, along with its strategic partnerships with international universities and companies, make it a magnet for students and researchers from across the continent.

This recognition by the RUR is only the last stone of a building already crowned with multiple distinctions. In 2024, UEMF was named the “first green university in Morocco” by the “UI GreenMetric”, while climbing into the “top 10” of Africa. The ranking “U-Multirank” has distinguished it as a world leader in overall performance and in the “top 25” for student mobility. Not to mention its place in the global “top 600” of the “Times Higher Education” on the Sustainable Development Goals, or the prestigious “Zairi International Awards” celebrating its societal impact.

All these recognitions confirm that UEMF represents a new generation of universities—resolutely  forward-looking, where intellectual audacity, environmental commitment and openness to the world come together to form tomorrow’s leaders. Morocco, through it, confirms its rise on the global academic stage – and this is undoubtedly just the beginning..
